In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, 45 years ago today a police raid on a gay bar in the Greenwich Village district of New York City was resisted. The patrons of the Stonewall Inn turned violent towards the officers and began to riot. The following year the first Gay Pride marches took place in not only New York City, but also Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago to commemorate the anniversary of these riots. This display of civil disobedience sparked a revolution that has not stopped ever since...we need more revolutions like this. #pride
