In the early morning of Dec. 24, 1932, heavy rain started a landslide which demolished more than half of an erected cloister adjoining what was called the novices wing, today the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center, at 300 College Ave., up above downtown Los Gatos. The cloister was finished by the novices and juniors, or men who had entered the religious order, after they spent more than two years removing several hundred tons of earth.
