In the evening, I could see scores of students looking for candles, later during the candle light vigil I could see the grief in the faces... It was highly commendable to see our youth feeling the grief of others and I highly appreciate this gesture. Organizers have also done a great job by providing us a way to show solidarity with the aggrieved families. But I believe that in such hours of grief, beside candle light vigil, we should also offer Namaz-e-Janaza which is an obligation for Muslims. I am posting this because I feel that we are getting away from Islamic rituals, specially the obligation of Namaz-e-Janaza, however let it be very clear that candles are not at all against Islamic teachings. May all the martyrs of Peshawar rest in peace and may Allah give aggrieved families the courage to bear the loss. Ameen.
