Is this East African community a paper tiger than a reality. I have lost count of several pieces of paper that have been signed by our venerable leaders the 3Ks ever since we started singing about it as a panacea to accelerated growth of the region. 2. Isnt it like a vehicle moving without a speedometer and milage meter with no headlamps. How have you at an individual level reaped from the five years or more of this community. They made us believe that crossing over borders would look like crossing to your neighbors compound but alas wapi its even becoming costlier to fly to Kenya. What are we exporting to Kenya and what are importing from Kenya. I think south Sudan is of strategic interest to Uganda than Kenya. Mombasa is just shipping to us used cars china electronics Dubai artificial bums and wigs for women but the Nile triangle is consuming our potatoes cows goats mutton and employment. We have more Ugandans employed in South Sudan than Kenya and Tanzania combined. The East African community is just a photo community where our leaders get chance to meet wine and dine after signing papers that no other Ugandan knows about. Mbu a railway line as a joint venture, when, how will it meander all the way, who pays what if they can not even enhance production in the region. What will this railway transport in the region... Oil, used cars, electronics, huge containers like those in Naguru coming in full while leaving the country empty. The investors we attract to this country baffles me. Scrap dealers, retail traders, wholesalers, dealers of mivumba and Bajaj boxer brand motorcycles. The problem to me here is a youth sells off land to buy a bajaj en migrates to an urban area to ferry people. Land for a motorcycle idiots. When shall we make agriculture attractive. East African Community is moving but only carrying its leaders. Do you find yourself in this hyped wagon if yes where are you seated...
