In the first hour of debate in the new Congress, I stood up and told a story about a bridge in Bushnell’s Basin that has fallen under such ill repair that local firefighters can’t go over it because it was deemed unsafe for their large engines to go across, adding precious minutes to their response times. Fixing our nation’s infrastructure is now, literally, a life and death issue. Democrats have strong, common-sense proposals that would fix this, but the House Majority has already blocked them, and it’s a shame. But like I’ve always said, you’re not defeated until you quit--and I don’t quit
