In the first of our Young Guns series of profiles we get to know Dylan Fulton a bit better... Dylan is an extremely hard worker and always looking to improve his umpiring. Over the last 12 months Dylan has transformed from a quiet, go about your business type of kid to a really strong leader among the junior umpiring group. He is one who will lead by example week in week out. Dylan last year capped a fine season with the U17B Grand Final and the prestigious EFLUA Don McBain Award for junior umpires. To cap off a remarkable year, in the off season Dylan and his brother Ben umpired in AFL Asia’s 2013 Indochina Cup, in Cambodia. We expect continued improvement from Dylan as he and his fellow young guns look to progress to senior ranks this year. My parents inspire me to do my best and to never give up in no matter what I do. Who is your most annoying umpiring mate and why? BRAD CONDICK!!! He is the most annoying person ever. Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t mean I hate him he just won’t shut up. What is your worst habit? Getting to easily distracted when doing my school work. What is the funniest moment in your umpiring career? I go to walk out to start the game and without realizing I walk out in my dress shoes instead of my boots. Then as I go to call the captains in I was told and I had to run in a change them. What is the proudest moment in your umpiring career? Last year when I not only received a U17B grand final but when I received the Don McBain Junior Umpire of the Year award. What three words best describe you? Confident, Kind, Committed Major umpiring goal for 2014? To umpire at a Senior level by the end of the year... and to umpire with Clarkey THIS OR THAT Boot Camp or Training...
