In the height of the Cold War, the United States and Russia (Soviet Union) were spending enough money annually on armaments to provide every citizen on the earth with a years supply of food, a freezer for the perishables and the energy to keep it all working and cooking. Not a whole lot has changed, except food has skyrocketed-and so has military spending, more than 80 percent of which is U.S. spending. How long will we do this? What are we defending if we are victimizing our children, our seniors and the poor? In fact, how much longer CAN we do this?
