In the interest of bringing information to my FB friends.....I have an annual cardiology appointment due to an aneurism. Its always been a $20 co-pay for an office visit. I just got my bill for my recent visit. Its $1800.00! BE WARNED: Some specialty clinics, like cardiologists, are now associating with hospitals. The reason? Medicaid allows them to bill office visits as outpatient visits. So they can gauge people like me and still keep their Medicaid contracts. It costs people like me hundreds of times more than it used to, and theres no way of getting around it. In Sioux City, every cardiology clinic is now associated with a hospital. The doctors claim they had to do this to make ends meet. Yes, Ive seen how they suffer. In fact, I cant think of a group of professionals more disadvantaged and oppressed, with less income, fewer assets, and less political clout than doctors. I know some of them only have one vacation home instead of several. Some have been forced to shop at Target. Its a tragedy. And NO, it has NOTHING to do with Obamacare. Its a Medicaid reimbursement issue. So if you visit a medical specialty clinic, you best ASK if youre going to be billed as an outpatient first. Just so you know.....
