In the last 24 hours, Australians have united with the dramas of the #sydneysiege and the #illridewithyou campaign. We have sat as a nation glued to the news, waiting to hear the outcome of the hostage situation at the Lindt cafe in Sydney. Whilst our community has united, I sense a tide of islamaphobia and racism is headed our way. Yes, the gunman was an Iranian clerk and an Islamist. But he does not represent the entire cohort of Islam. We cannot target an entire religion due to the actions of a fundamentalist minority. I ask of you, please separate those who commit heinous acts of crime and those who simply wish to live a peaceful existence. On another note, our emergency services team in Sydney deserve a world of praise and recognition. Thank you Australia and yes, I will ride with each and every one of you.
