In the last 35 years, many people have been cheated by the so-called ‘chit fund companies’. Have we ever heard of anything like returning money to the people who were cheated? Our Government had set up a Commission for looking into the affairs of companies with power to confiscate, attach and sell properties of those companies for the purpose of payment of compensation to the affected persons. We have also launched a special scheme for payment of compensation and allotted ₹ 500 crore. Today we have started payment of compensation with delivery of cheques to about 1000 poor people who invested their small savings. Further payment of more than one lakh affected persons will be made by the District Magistrates before Puja. Another 3-4 lakh affected persons will receive compensation after Kali Puja. We do not want to deprive the poor people. Our sincere efforts are always there to help the poor people in distress. Central Government agencies like SEBI, RBI, etc. should also ensure that poor people are not cheated.
