In the last few hours let me thank the hundreds of you that have publicly supporter my candidacy for Jefferson County Sheriff. Last night I wrote and said it would be great since we were 6 short of hitting 700 likes on the Pete Dougherty for Sheriff page. In those few hours you responded and we are over 714. My experience is broad and substantial I led on issues with criminal offenders as a probation and parole supervisor, I worked for years working as Magistrate and led the effort to increase training for the lower court system. I worked on getting laws changed at both the state and federal level and that included 2 stints as a professional staff member to both US House and Senate congressional committees. And now I have been your Sheriff - my department has arrested more people and responded to more calls for service. I will write later this evening when the results come in but I wanted to let you know that whether working to keep you safe, dispense criminal and civil justice, improve schools or get additional service for those with mental illness and drug use or those who have faced physical or emotional abuse my work will continue.... Thanks for being there for me.
