In the last over two years, I have travelled extensively in Baramulla. But, I had never heard of a small community of sweepers who live in the middle of Baramulla town. Right next to the office if the Deputy Commissioner and between the offices of R&B and SSP Baramulla, is a small community of sweepers who live in the most wretched circumstances. Politicians visit them every six years, promise to help them with housing and land, take their votes and then never show up again...until the next election. It was truly distressing to see their sub-human existence. I am determined to help them in any way possible but I am shocked that fellow human beings live in such a miserable condition right at the centre of Baramulla town.
