In the last round of talks in August, the government agreed to the establishment of a federalism system in Myanmar based on the results of political negotiations. This issue was a major stumbling block for many years and is now out of the way. Most importantly, the government has promised time and again that it will negotiate politically for the future of Myanmar. To prove its seriousness, the government has embarked on a parallel process of negotiating the NCA and developing a joint-framework for political dialogue. In other words, these are the promises on “political guarantee” that all stakeholders have sought from the government since the day one.
