In the last year and a half Ive had a lot of firsts... Flooding rivers and drive ways, pigs and watching pigs farrowing. Watching kittens being born, my dream of horses coming true, coyotes howling, ( I still think they sound creepy) starting a fire from scratch, waking to find our house a balmy 57* and wearing pink coveralls to the mill. :) Today we added goats to the list. Our neighbors goats had triplets. He gave us the third kid that the mother refused. Well happy day for us. We were totally excited. We snuggled those little guys right in front of the fireplace and fed them from bottles. Yes, I did say in front of the fireplace. In the living room. We very quickly learned bottle feeding 4 goats was a very tiring job. These guys didnt know how and of course we made a mess. We started with 4 goats. One was in very poor shape. We spoon fed him and finally taught him to drink from the bottle but he was too weak already. The other 3, one girl and two boys are doing very well. Thomas and Tommie built an awesome little pen for them. The goats have graduated to the basement. Im hoping these newborns sleep through the night.
