In the late 1800s people simply ate real food. Processed food was not around much. People ate 3-meals a day and appreciated each meal. Then, a lot changed. In the 1930s we tried to lose weight by smoking and doing cleanses, such as the honey-lemon and cayenne pepper weight loss cleanse. In the 1940s and 1950s we tried to pray to lose weight and eat only grapefruit. In the 1960s it was the cabbage soup diet. The diet pills hit the scene in the 1970s, along with super low calorie diets. In the 1980s experts advocated low-fat, low cholesterol diets for heart health, which in return increased our processed carbohydrate consumption. Dr. Atkins told us to eat low-carbs and eat as much fat and protein as you wanted in the 1990s. The early 2000s brought us Body For Life. We were then supposed to eat 6-meals a day no matter what to lose weight. Now in 2014, Time Magazine came out with an issue telling us we were all wrong about fat and cholesterol. Everyone is now telling us to eat whole foods again like we did 100 years ago, and not worry about how often we eat. Diets dont work and you just need to quit eating processed junk. It’s funny how we are now back to what we did over 100 years ago. Eat whole foods, eat a few times a day, quit snacking all of the time, and quit dieting. No wonder getting people to eat correctly is so hard.
