In the latest issue of MOJO, Marianne Faithfull - Official Page - TopicsExpress

In the latest issue of MOJO, Marianne Faithfull - Official Page repeats an account she first shared twenty years ago in her 1994 autobiography, “Faithfull,” stating her belief that her former lover and known heroin dealer Jean de Breteuil was responsible for the death of Jim Morrison. Other news outlets (including CNN and Rolling Stone) have since picked up the story, mistakenly believing that this is the first time shes ever discussed these events. However, there doesnt appear to be anything new in her retelling. It seems she was asked about her previous claims and simply restated them. Unfortunately, all this press attention makes it look like Faithfull is suddenly trying to capitalize on Jim Morrisons death after all these years in order to promote her upcoming album. But as she says in that same MOJO interview: I come here for promotion and Im asked the most incredible questions. Sounds like she wasnt too pleased with the direction of the interview and certainly didnt expect Jim Morrison to be the focus of an article meant to promote her latest project. Its also telling that the same issue of MOJO features a story on the murder of Brian Jones. I suppose the chance to have two cover stories about murdered rock stars was a little too tempting for the magazine to pass up.
