In the meantime, in Christchurch (1) Ron Tasman (The Gouda Pottery Book) sent us this picture of the tile tableau he and his friend Peter van der Kroef has made, after it received its glost firing in the kiln of “Pataka Pottery” of Christchurch, New Zealand. On the right hand site are the ruins of Christchuch Cathedral after the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. The centre and left symbolize a new dawn for the city, and hopefully a new house for Ron soon. The rooster-and-rising-sun design pays homage to a similar vintage tableau by Distel pottery of Amsterdam. We will show the original design in our next post. (Picture courtesy Ron Tasman)
