In the movie The Edge, there is a scene where, having survived together against the harsh Alaskan wilderness and a man-killing kodiac bear, Alec Baldwin (Bob) and Anthony Hopkins (Charles, who is a billionaire) discover an abandoned cabin (replete with a rifle) and canoe that can finally get them out of there. However, because Bob is smitten with Charles wife and wants her for herself (the two were secretly having an affair), he turns the gun on him and is getting ready to kill him, because A. He doesnt need the extremely resourceful Charles anymore to help him survive and find his way out of there, and B. He will wind up getting the girl and the money. Charles tries to reason with him, and Bob winds up backing up into what they call a deadfall, which is a disguised pit for bears. Hes down in the ditch, with a wooden spike impaled through his leg, and suddenly hes all, Oh, god Charles, Im hurt... Charles, shaking his head, ultimately goes down there and picks up the rifle, now aiming it at the helpless Bob. Bob is all, Oh God, Charles, please.... Charles then empties the rifles rounds and ditches the weapon, and proceeds to help Bob, tying off his leg to stop the bleeding and gets him out of there. Many people say, Hopkins should killed his ass or left him there to die. No. That scene my friends, is what life is all about. That, including when Bob, before he dies, tearfully looks him in the eye and says, Charles...Im sorry. Im sorry for what I did. Forgiveness, repentance, and respect.
