In the movie ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, Sean Penn - TopicsExpress

In the movie ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, Sean Penn plays Sean OConnell, a Koudelka like photographer who is always on his toes! One moment he is witnessing a volcano erupt in Iceland, the next moment he is exploring ungoverned Afghanistan. In the film’s climax, he is somewhere in the upper Himalayas, patiently waiting to photograph a snow leopard that rests in a crevice. When the leopard finally appears and majestically poses for him, Sean does not make the photograph. This perplexes Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller), a negative asset manager at Life Magazine who has been tracing Connell in search of a lost (photo) negative. On being asked why he didn’t photograph the snow leopard, Sean replies “Sometimes I dont. If I like a moment, for me, personally, I dont like to have the distraction of the camera. I just want to stay in it…” Thank you Sean OConnell for reminding me that photography is not about exhibitions, awards, grants or fellowships…but about everyday miracles, the element of chance and the many shades of love…Thank you for reminding me that it is about Life…
