In the movie The Skeleton Key the story is not at all trying to imply that darker skinned people are evil. It explains how a man and his wife were terribly mistreated, but also were in possession of much knowledge. Therefore an entity chose them to do all the work. The entity then possesses the bodies of two small children, and then goes on to possess a man and woman with fairer skin. This is because if one wants to live in a mansion on the White Side of Town it makes sense to be white.
