In the name of God, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate Rancho Cucamonga, California – July 14, 2014 – The Islamic Center of Inland Empire (ICIE) is excited and pleased to announce that we have hired Marc Manley as our Religious Director. This is a brand new role for our community and we hope and pray that it will be added to the many blessings that God has showered upon our community already. The ICIE Board of Directors have been actively searching for a candidate to fill this role for quite some time and feel that Marc will be a great fit for ICIE and our community. The Board chose Marc after spending a lot of time with him, interviewing him multiple times, and soliciting extensive positive feedback from references. If you have not had a chance to meet Marc or hear him speak, we have invited him to visit with our community this coming weekend in Ramadan so you will have the opportunity to hear him speak and spend some time with him at our community iftar dinner on Saturday night. Marc will also be delivering our Eid sermon this year. We encourage you to welcome him to our community and get to know him better while he is here this month. Marc is excited to join ICIE after almost a decade of living in Philadelphia: It is with a great sense of humility and happiness that I accept the position of Religious Director at ICIE. The warmth and hospitality shown to myself and my family has been truly inspiring and I eagerly look forward to serving the community in this capacity and all of the great things we can do together, God willing. Marc is married and father of a two year old daughter. He will be relocating with his family to the Inland Empire and will officially be joining ICIE full time towards the middle of September. Marc has a tremendous amount of experience in leading communities. He was the Chaplain at the University of Pennsylvania and at Drexel University, and has also served as an assistant imam at multiple masjids. He has studied under the tutelage of Dr. Sherman Jackson, Shaykh Ali Sulaiman Ali and Mufti Anwar Muhaimin, and has studied in Madina, Saudi Arabia. In addition, he is fluent in classical (fusha) Arabic, while receiving ijazahs in Quranic recitation in the hafs and warsh tradition. He has taught courses on Prophetic biography (seerah), tajweed, usul (foundational methodology), purification of the soul (tazkiyyah al-nafs), Islamic history, fiqh and much more. Thank you all for your continued interest in and support of our programming. We are very excited to have Marc on board with ICIE!
