In the next 4 pics I think I will explain a common problem and why it is important to get an accurate cut of fabric. This 1/2 yd cut, 18 inches, came wrinkled and a few folds. I ironed so I could square up. Since I can only post 1 pic at a time, the other 3 will be in comments below, (it will take me a few minutes to add them for the whole story). The end result of this 1/2 yd (18 inches) is less than 18 inches to work with. For new quilters, and all fabric buyers, this is one reason you dont have enough fabric, or if not squared up - wrinkles, in your project. Pic #1: start of measuring at fold, at zero inches.
