In the past six weeks, I have enjoyed the little things in life - TopicsExpress

In the past six weeks, I have enjoyed the little things in life that sometimes get neglected when Im working. Things like writing shopping lists so that I actually buy sensible food to cook meals with and dont just mindlessly grab random items on a quick supermarket run after school. Ive enjoyed growing plants and vegetables in my garden; watering them daily; pottering about pulling up the odd weed or two. Ive made time in the evenings to properly cleanse and moisturise my skin without just climbing into bed after a cursory wipe off with a facecloth. It sounds like nothing. But its amazing how easy it is to become obsessed with saving precious seconds of time because there is so much work to do. And thats just it. Precious seconds of time. Thats not just time but its MY time. My life. And thats why it is my new academic years resolution to claim these little moments of time back from now on. So many teachers now will be vowing to keep on top of their marking this year, or to set more meaningful homework, or put up more creative displays etc etc. And thats great! Dont stop trying to do the best you can do. But please do yourself a favour too and think about what you are going to do for you this year. My view is that you can only be as good at teaching as you feel in yourself. Happy back to work everyone. :)
