In the past two weeks playing fall ball with the Bronx Mets I have had the opportunity to do something very special, play alongside my son on the same team. Not only play on the same team, but actually experience something truly special. On Sunday, September 28th I witnessed Derek Dtb Ferreira get his first amateur hit, but that wasnt all. I was able to catch his first career save in sealing a 3-2 win over the Prospects. This past Sunday, October 5th, I had the chance to experience and share another first with him. This time I was out in the outfield while he came in relief as our starting pitcher went down with an arm injury. Today, Derek earned his first career win and it was truly a very priceless moment. Not to many people get the opportunity to play alongside their kids on any team in any league. Its happened a handful of times in the majors, with the Griffeys being the last to be able to do it. Ive played the game for 35 years now, and this fall season has made me realize why I continue to go out there and do what I love doing, playing baseball. Thank you Donald Mambo Pichardo for giving us the opportunity to experience these priceless moments. Next goal, winning a Championship together. LETS GET IT!!!!
