In the past week I flew six hours and drove over twelve. I had road trips with phenomenal women. I communed with over fifty more of the most ridiculously brilliant women I know, including two of my sisters and cousin. I got to spend four days at the home of a woman I deeply admire and connect with more humans I deeply admire; write and break and heal and grow. Ive seen so much love in other familys that makes me love mine that much more. Ive celebrated seventeen years since the first day I met the love of my life, even though hes 2,000 miles away right now. Ive eaten pernil two days in a row. I got four plantains for a dollar. Ive discussed gentrification and colorism over coffee with my dear sweet cousin and her sweet sweet baby. I lost a friend who was not just massively significant in my journey with chronic illness, but who was a dear sweet soul and a better human than many of us ever will be. Ive talked to my kids every single day and missed them terribly, but also have begun to relearn that using my own oxygen mask is deeply necessary and they have URGED ME to do so. Ive cried a lot. Ive laughed a lot. Ive loved a lot. Its a good life yall. Its a hard life a lot of times, but its a good life. I dont take a single breath for granted.
