In the period 2008/9, Mt kenya region faced a dilemma on a suitable candidate outside the region to support in the 2013 election after Kibakis retirement. In a homecoming rally in Machakos for one of the Kambas MP,some central province MPs endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka as the most suitable and acceptable candidate to take over from Kibaki. The pro-Kalonzo feelings then in mount kenya were very high, and Kalonzo was quickly emerging as the leading contender to inherit the mount kenya votes. As the vice-president and one of the seniormost policitian in the country, Kalonzo Musyoka was ahead of the perk in the presidential race. That was also the time when he was booed by hired Kibera goons at uhuru park in the presence of Kibaki and Raila. Central province was becoming more sympathetic to Kalonzo and people their were growing fond of him. Then Ocampo released the ICC list, and Muthama excitedly opened his big mouth. He literally said that the ICC was a blessing in disguise for the Kamba as Kalonzo presumably had a clear chance for the big seat. That was the day Kalonzo kissed Mt. Kenya votes goodbye. I wont speak for Uhuru and Ruto but one thing that I know is that their people were very pissed off by that remark. Kalonzo did not help matters either, he just kept quiete as Muthama continued to goof and alienate him from Uhuruto.
