In the room with Robin...PICU. She took the news of the abdomen surgery as well as I could hope. Shes given us a few weak smiles, but she just wants to sleep now...which is hard because people keep wanting to examine her and take her blood pressure, but shes bring patient about everything. She said that shes just glad that its over. One hard moment... when she was having her pre-surgery exam today and the nurse asked her to rate her daily pain on a scale from 1 to 10 from the headaches...Robin considered the question for a minute and then said a 4 with occasional increases to 8 or 9 when lying down or standing up. It really hit home to me how miserable she has been for months! At least this surgery has given validation to her assertion that something was NOT RIGHT. Seeing your childs head swathed in bandages and hooked up to various monitors and tubes is always heart-wrenching. But I am so grateful that this part is behind her! We should be home by the weekend.
