In the spirit of fairness and to also report some improving news I have reviewed some reports recently published and found the following: Graduation Stats are improving, let us hope that it doesnt have a setback. In 2013 40.4% of Cal Poly students graduated in 4 years! This is a big improvement, 10 years ago the number was 21.8%. Except for 2005 when the rate was 31.1% then dropped, it has been a somewhat continual rise every year. Now that they have released the 2013 enrollment target report, though they released the version of 5/15 updated after almost all acceptances were received, the original report dated 2/13/13 showed they had planned on 4,376 new freshmen for 2013 (still about an 18% increase!!) but got 4871 (about 32% more than 2012!!). Luckily numbers for Transfers, Post Grads, and Grads were about or slightly lower than expected. For 2014 they have about the same ORIGINAL number they plan to accept 4338 vs.4376. If they do a better job guessing acceptances this year, hopefully there will be about 500 fewer freshmen. Guess we will find out in fall, let us hope.
