In the spirit of full disclosure, here are the minutes of the Organizing Committees meeting held on March 8, 2014. 1. The meeting was called to order at 6:45 pm w the following alumni in attendance: Dowel Juan and Evelyn Afalla from batch 85; Fe Balaoing, Lourdes Dailey, Cecille Llonillo and myself. 2. The agenda was approved without any addendum. 3. The name 2015 NUCD Alumni Grand Reunion and Homecoming was approved by the group as the official title for the event. 4. In order to clarify and elucidate on the purpose of the event, the mission and vision for the 2015 Grand Reunion were specified and created. Vision: To bring the sons and daughters of our prestigious alma mater, the College of Dentistry, National University together to a celebration of camaraderie and friendship. Mission: To rekindle old bonds of friendship and make new ones from amongst our alumni. To rejoice in the successes and accomplishments of our alumni in the Philippines and around the world. To reminisce and bring to mind fond memories of our student days as we prepared for our lives ahead. 5. The group decided, based from feedback from the alumni in the Philippines as well as abroad, to hold the reunion on the weekend immediately following the 2015 PDA Convention. Since the dates for the 2015 Convention have not been set yet, the actual dates were deferred till the end of this years Convention. 6. In order to provide ample time for bonding and camaraderie, the group decided on a two-day event: a Fellowship Day/Welcome Mixer/Grand Tour of the new NU on the Saturday immediately following the 2015 PDA Convention; and a Gala Night on Sunday to be held in a hotel (still to be determined). Suggestions for the venue of the Gala Night included choices of a hotel ballroom or a garden reception. 7. In order to facilitate the preparations for the event, various committees were created and alumni from here in the US and in the Philippines were selected to chair these very vital committees. These are: Ways and Means: Chairperson: Grace Gonzales, batch 88 Co-chair: Maan Paez, batch 84 Grace is tasked to locate possible venues for the Gala Night and initiate, negotiate and finalize agreements between concerned parties upon advisement from the Organizing Committee. Maan is assigned to communicate with the officials of the National University regarding the use of the schools facilities during the Fellowship Day/Welcome Mixer/Grand Tour of the new NU. The Finance Committee will be headed by Fe Balaoing, batch 84 and co-chaired by Aurea Zambrano (84), Brenda Lartec (85) and Rose Cabrera (86). They are tasked to receive monies, dues and fees and release funds for expenditures and expenses. The Invitations Committee will be headed by yours truly and will be thru all mediums available to include communication via the social media (FB), Email and regular mail. The batch reps will be directly under this committee to facilitate communication and relay of information. The Program Committee will be under Dowel Juan (85) and is tasked to come up with a viable and enjoyable program of activities for both the Fellowship Day and Gala Night. The Registration Committee will be chaired by Lourdes Dailey. She will be tasked to receive the attending alumni and secure personal information from them and issue event paraphernalia like IDs, tokens and Souvenir Programs. The Physical Arrangements Committee will be chaired by Roy Afurong, Jr. and co-chaired by Cesar Floralde. They are tasked to prepare the venues as to seating arrangements, set up of audiovisual media, stage set ups and other paraphernalia needed during the event. The Solicitations Committee will be chaired by Brenda Lartec and co-chaired by Andrea Simon. Their main task is to raise funds for miscellaneous expenses covering plaques for awards, tips for NU personnel helping out during the Fellowship and Gala Night venue personnel, plaques for awards and expenses incurred during the preparations. The Awards Committee will be covered by the Organizing Committee and shall be tasked with giving out plaques of recognition to persons and groups of interest during the reunion. The next meeting was set on May 16, 2014 during the California Dental Assn Convention at the Anaheim Convention Center, California, USA. Having covered the agenda, the meeting was adjourned at 8 oclock pm.
