In the spirit of other pastors who have been thanking colleagues and mentors for Pastor Appreciation Month, I just want to offer up thanks for my late friend and mentor Dick Lyndon. Best thing I ever did was move to Goshen, Indiana and work for Dick. Taught me a lot of things, but the most important was to look beyond the needs of the institution, and out into the community for people who were marginalized, unwanted, unloved, and in the eyes of most other churches, unimportant. He saw others with the eyes of Jesus and thats why in Christs name he sought to bring people Life. Never met anyone who loved people he didnt know yet, more than Dick did. Also never met anyone more fearlessly willing to suffer the wrath of those who thought he was too reckless with church time and resources, in order to make new disciples. I miss him every day.
