In the spirit of the brand new mix #NANIVol2 that is exclusively Kenyan music that am dropping tonight on #FNL via djprincekenya I was glad we have a Gava ya mayouth but so far this government has made no impact on the Music/Ent Industry that is dominated by the youth. Mayouth wengi hawana jobs ; But just think of the impact on employment by passing a bill that allows 60% (or more) of Kenyan content on our media. How many people would earn a living from Arts; Comedy, Music, Motion pictures..... Instead of some popular blogs supporting the industry, the best they can do is compare Kenyan music to Nigeria & South Africa. And how whack Kenyan music is in comparison. We cannot sit and compare ourselves to people whose Governments and corporates have invested in their music for over 10 years. Let alone the fan loyalty. And to those who blame Deejays for the music struggles, Id like to point out to you that Djs alone cannot successfully grow this industry. I mean, that is a tough fight when media is pushing over 75% content from other nationalities. We have to be one. The only 3 entities that can make a LASTING IMPACT to music growth (This is proven in Countries in West Africa & South Africa.) is strong support from 1. The Government 2. Corporates (Big up to Safaricom Live good job) 3. Loyalty from the fans (not just to listen but to be willing to support e.g by buying music and many other ways). Big up to everyone who is doing their part, because theres is new talent from time to time in Kenya. Sadly, we will never get to know about most of them because that is how the system is set.
