In the study, gut bacteria from obese humans was given to mice. One group had a poor quality diet while the other group ate a better diet. Mice that ate a healthy diet were hardly affected by the microbes and remained lean. The mice that ate a poor diet quickly became obese, even though they were exposed to healthy microbes via the lean mice’s feces. This study helps show that even though there has been talk about microbe transplants to help combat obesity, diet will still play an integral role in weight management. More info: bit.ly/15M70XF
