In the thirties and forties most black people in the south had guns. Why? Because back then being black and making too much money was a death sentence. If your market became too big and you started making white businessmen lose money, you would be framed and lynched. For Black men this usually happened in a false rape accusation. Because of this, millions of black people in the South thought that it was logical to be heavily armed so they would be able to put food on their table. That way if a white domestic terrorist decided to attack them or destroy their business, they could protect themselves.
