In the time Jesus walked on the earth (around the 1st century), Jewish Women had very little power or independence. As a result, they could accomplish very little for Him. They couldnt speak before the high council in his defense. They couldnt appeal to Pilate. They couldnt stand against the crowds. They couldnt overpower the Roman guards. But the women remained faithful. They stayed at the cross after the disciples had fled. They followed Jesus body to the tomb and prepared spices for it. Because they remained close by, they were the first to witness the Resurrection. Their devotion and diligence to God turned around and became a blessing on them. Often we regret how little we can actually do for God. Yet too often this is an excuse for not doing what we can. Instead, we should be faithful with the small opportunities we have to serve God. By being faithful in these small ways, we may find unexpected blessings brought upon us.
