In the transcription event for Ebola, the viral encoded RNA - TopicsExpress

In the transcription event for Ebola, the viral encoded RNA polymerase is packaged upon release and the genome is transcribed as an antisense RNA in 3 to 5 direction. In order to be translated into viral protein the viral RNA needs to be transcribed to the 5 to 3 state. There are no introns to be spliced out but 5 capping and polyadenylation at the newly transcribed 3 tail does occur. The viral mRNA is then translated as a single ORF with the UTRs between the coding segments for nucleoprotein, VP35, VP30, VP24, VP40, and RNA polymerase serve as an undetermined regulatory function (and possible source of miRNA) . youtu.be/m2lOf3ker9M
