In the true spirit of community service, and after about two - TopicsExpress

In the true spirit of community service, and after about two months of hard work and dedication, the home of Ms. Linda Tims has been remodeled and we are ready to give it back to her. Many of you will remember the challenge: On Sunday August 17th, 2104 Phoenix Police Officer Glenn Branham was sent to the home at 3027 N. 46th Dr. for a burglary, a series of burglaries actually. It was there that Glenn met Ms. Linda Tims. Glen learned very quickly that Ms. Tims was in dire straits. Ms. Tims was suffering the loss of her husband and her parents, and she had her own medical issues. All of this affected her to a point when she had to move in with her daughter. In the time since, her home had been burglarized and was in complete shambles, mostly from criminal activity. After hearing Ms. Tims’ story, Glenn went above and beyond the call of duty to make the house her home again. Using his own time, Glenn began recruiting fellow officers, family and friends to take on a monumental task that began with clearing the home of years of accumulated property and debris. Officer Branham used his connections as a former construction worker to bring in additional resources and volunteers to help renovate her house. Glenn has also spent his own money to replace the stolen copper pipes. On Saturday, August 23rd, Glenn and at least 20 of his friends and family worked to prepare the home for renovation. The mission had begun. Epilogue: On Friday November 7th, 2014 a ribbon cutting ceremony was held and Glenn and his friends gave Linda her home back. Amongst family, friends and donors Linda was overwhelmed by it all, “God sent me an angel back in August. Yes, he wore a uniform but don’t angels come that way sometime? I cannot ever thank all of you enough for what you have returned to me”. The kitchen is where Linda lived when her home was her home; when asked what the first thing she was going to do in her new house Linda smiled brightly and said “I’m gonna make Thanksgiving dinner and invite everyone!”. We truly do live in the best community in the country, and Phoenix Police Officers are the best in the business…just ask Linda.
