In the words of a hero of mine, my feet are tired, but my soul is rested (after 8 hours of canvassing). We stand on the cusp of a progressive majority, but we still need every single person to continue working until those polls close! Keep working those phones, and telling those friends about this progressive justice coalition that we are building together... After four months, I have made countless connections; eaten fabulous barbecue (thanks Anthony and Teddy); had a lot of laughs (Brandon Ross that work out will be coming in soon - those pounds will come off after the election!!); received support from heroes of mine (Karen Kubby your support of Kingsley, Royceann and me was invaluable); received words of encouragement from Jim Throgmorton; learned new urban ag concepts (thanks Scott Koepke); developed a gold level bike plan (thanks Scott Spak); even filmed a video! (thanks Nick and Bond!); met incredibly talented young people (Johnny and Eli, you two will run the world (now get watching the Matrix); met the men and women who make our town work (thanks brothers and sisters of the local labor unions - you will be the essential part of our future prosperity); talked with local entrepreneurs (thanks Nialle!); was awed by the local makers at busy cooworking (Michael Webb - I know I will ride in one of your rockets some day); met local legends who have graciously publicly supported me (thanks Ethan and Barb); laughed with Harry as I forgot my wire for his yard sign (Kingsley I still owe you!); received excellent tactical advice from local political legends thanks Gary, Caroline, Carol, Janelle, Rod, and Mark); ate great food at Creek Side (thanks Tom and Karen); received so much support and encouragement from Ariane, Jiyun, and Helene). Kingsley and Royceann. What an honor it has been to get to know you both. Kingsley, you have one of the warmest personalities that I know of. Your intelligence, your passion for justice, and your ability to listen will serve you well on council. Royceann your candor, honesty and sense of humor will be such valuable assets on council. You stand up for those without, and I so admire you for that. But Nora thinks you should win because of your hair!! Most importantly, Mara and Nora have been the Rock and foundation of this campaign. I couldnt do it without you two! And indulge my pride for this one moment, Mara did the best logo Ive seen in long time. And no matter how many votes it may cost me, I truly believe that the Longhorns are the best!! No debate there! Go Longfellow Longhorns! This is why I am so confident we can move our city forward on the path of justice, sustainability and inclusion, not because of me, but because of we. We quibble too much about where we are, and often lose sight of what this town can become. We must be the shining progressive city of light on the prairie. We cannot do this working in isolation. We can achieve it only by working together. Were not done yet. Keep dialin those phones; keep knocking your neighbors doors, and make sure all of your friends vote. Well be working right up until I see you at the Mill. Lets let this good vibe coalition bloom! Lets weave together this wonderfully diverse social fabric. Lets achieve that first progressive majority in 40 years!!! Vote Cole, Porter, and Botchway!!!
