In the world of therapy, we often use the term process when describing working through feelings. So what does this catchy word mean? Processing is not only to think your thoughts, but feel your thoughts. Notice the sensations you get when you are aware of your thoughts. When we notice what we are feeling while we are thinking, we can get a pretty easy read on which direction to go or what to focus on. For example, if you are thinking about how you want to speak your truth to someone who needs to hear it, notice your bodys sensation when you mentally say what you want them to know. Are you sweating and nauseous or are you feeling empowered by the words you choose? Hold on to that feeling. Maybe you are deciding between two equally attractive options or even one practical option and one risky option. Take the time to sit in each option and feel what it would be like to choose it. Are you scared, excited, hopeful or are you bored, disappointed and wanting? How will you feel 6 months from now or a year? You cant predict the future necessarily but you can still get a good sense of howd you feel. Let that feeling be your guide. And that is processing in a Facebook post nutshell. :)
