In the year 1987 I watched a sad movie about Apartheid called CRY FREEDOM... It premiered on all big movie screens in Mombasa,Nairobi and Kisumu on the same day ... I had to save my break time pocket money and even borrow from my siblings to make it to the famous COMING SOON.. I cried for the better part of the movie and from then henceforth, even though I was hardly 11 I learnt that oppression and injustice was a bad Thing.. I learnt of how Steve Biko died at the hands of the white apartheid regime. It was difficult to exercise basic rights.. Privacy was never allowed for those earmarked... Fast forward and now we have a law that even though has good aspects has also created bad ones.. My right to picket or hold rally is now controlled by a Cabinet secretary who is a political appointee... If the rally is disrupted the police will hold me accountable for damage by anyone there .. I can now be detained for 30 days as long as a sworn affidavit is presented to court by police . How sure are we that the ruling elite will not use them to curtail political opponents under the guise of terrorism ????? I am not happy.. Please rethink this .SECURITY ACT or maybe sections of it....
