In their last meet before Championship Week, The ODA Womens and Mens Varsity Swim teams lost to Lemon Bay tonight @ Oyster Creek Pool. It was the first loss for the womens team. More school records were set....Take a look in the coaches recap: ODA Girls 132 - Lemon Bay Girls 171; ODA Boys 127 - Lemon Bay Boys 155 Event Recap: The Out-of-Door varsity swim team competed against Lemon Bay High School on Thursday, October 2. The boys and girls teams fought hard but came up short. Zach Szmania continued to establish new school records. Szmania broke his own 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke records. Sarsen Whatmore nearly eclipsed the school record in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall for a first place finish. Szmania and Whatmore joined Matthew Leonard and Laszlo Tengerdy on the victorious 400 freestyle relay team. Despite only winning three events, the boys placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in numerous events to keep the final score close. The boys are back in action next Wednesday for the Sarasota County Championships. On the girls side, Caroline Diesel touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke event. The girls followed up with a win in the 400 freestyle event. This was the last dual meet of the season for the team. The girls ended the season with a 7-1 record, and the boys followed up with a strong 5-3 record. The team moves into the championship season next week.
