In this era of labor-less production, with computer-controlled - TopicsExpress

In this era of labor-less production, with computer-controlled machines steadily replacing more and more human workers, WE REJECT the message the 1% is sending out: Record Profits for them, Austerity for the rest of us. At this Sept. 3 educational and planning meeting, our message is that austerity is the corporate vision of our future, requiring increasingly dispossessed workers to make all the sacrifices. Workers must reject that! We must fight for priorities that ensure basic human rights for all, rights like jobs at a living wage, decent housing, good public education, and health care for all. We must fight for a better future than the preachers of austerity are planning for us. We must fight for a better vision of political and economic democracy than we have ever had in the U.S. We need to start supporting each other in strikes and protests, so that our current fights focused on conditions at individual companies turn into a broader collective vision of economic democracy for all. We need new ideas like the Robin Hood Tax on financial speculation. Come and discuss ideas like this on Sept 3. The discussion will be guided by the Resolution of Action on Poverty, Jobs and Immigration weap.org/WCW/resolutions-wcw.htm available at weap.org. Workers from BART, Walmart, the city of Hayward and elsewhere who stand up for rights of us all help us move toward economic democracy, where we all have access to the most basic things. A transformative movement toward economic democracy has begun, as showed by the courageous leadership protesting the exoneration of the murderer of Trayvon Martin and by immigrant rights leaders such as the Dream Defenders who are creatively and courageous demonstrating a new vision forward. A new class of dispossessed is standing up and recognizing the importance of fighting for their rights as well as the society we need to secure ALL of our rights. In the past we have struggled for individual rights. Now it is clear that the real struggle is for our collective rights, and that this fight requires the leadership of all of us.
