In this study, researchers found that polyphenols from green tea were effective in damaging the DNA of cancer cells and consequently, inhibiting their growth. This was a lab study and did not involve live subjects but the results are encouraging and offer some hope for victims of malignant melanoma. US-based tea company, Immortalitea commented in conjunction with the study, “Green tea has been shown in other studies to have many other health benefits including anti-aging, boosting the immune system and helping with weight loss. Other than the well-known and usually mild effect of caffeine, there are no common adverse side effects to drinking green tea. With the possible inclusion of helping fight one of the most deadly cancers, there is a more and more compelling case for making green tea you beverage of choice.”
