In this video I address jumping up on people. If we are talking about humane ways to teach our dogs that we do not want them to jump up, two of the most popular options are: 1 - Negative punishment (e.g. dog jumps up and we leave so that the dog cannot interact with us) 2 - Teaching an incompatible behavior with positive reinforcement (e.g. we teach the dog that sitting is better than jumping up by providing something pleasant when the dog sits) For most dogs I prefer to use option number 2. The amount of social contact and exercise that the dog gets on a daily basis also plays a role in jumping up.
