In this weeks episode of KeysDiveGuide, begin diving the shipwrecks of the 1733 Spanish Treasure Fleet and learn the history and precise locations of these once proud Galleons and Merchant Naos! Blast out of Garden Cove in Key Largo to PACIFIC REEF in the Biscayne National Marine Sanctuary for a dive on the northern-most shipwreck of the Fleet and #1 on the old chart, EL POPULO in 30 of water. Then, meet Commercial Airline Pilot Mick OConnor in Key Largo Harbor and skip down to LITTLE CONCH REEF for a dive on #3 on the old chart, EL INFANTE in 12 of water. Next, ease about 1 mile to the WNW to SAN JOSE, #4 on the old chart in 30 of water. One mile to the SSE well locate one of SAN JOSE CANNON that fell overboard in 35 of water as San Jose pitched and yawed her way shoreward on a 346 degree track to her final gravesite. Top off the day with a dive on EL RUBI SEGUNDO, LA CAPITANA of the 1733 Armada in 20 of water one mile west of DAVIS LIGHT TOWER. The newest ship in the Fleet and displacing 500 tons, she was owned by King Philip IV of Spain and bristled with 60 cannon.
