In what is bound to be one of the most memorable starts to a semester, Dr. Buckalew (Interim President of Columbia College) has sent out a statement that the college campus will be closed on Monday, August 26 due to the severe impacts of the Rim Fire. Below is her statement we received by email this afternoon. Please share and keep each other, and our hard working fire crews (and many others) who are battling this epic blaze in your thoughts. Columbia College Colleagues, Please be advised that due to the severe impact of the Rim Fire on our local area, the Columbia College main campus will be closed on Monday, August 26. All classes, events and appointments on campus are cancelled. The main gate to the campus will be closed and there will be no admittance. The Calaveras and Oakdale off-campus sites will remain open and classes will be offered as scheduled. It is anticipated that the main campus will re-open on Tuesday, August 27 as normally scheduled. For additional updates, if any, stay tuned to your local radio stations (KVML/KZSQ/KKBN), access the Columbia College website home page or call the campus main phone number (209) 588-5100 and press “1” for current campus conditions. Please remember, above all, be safe. Dr Leslie Buckalew Interim President
