In with the new Plenty of New Year celebrations planned in area communities December 24, 2014 By SAMANTHA WALLACE (swallace@sungazette) New Years Eve is one of the most-celebrated holidays around the world. From Albania to Venezuela, Dec. 31 finds people dancing, drinking and ushering in a new year with abandon - and central Pennsylvania is no exception. WILLIAMSPORT Williamsport will have its fair share of festivities. The Genetti Hotel, 200 W. Fourth St., again will host its version of Dick Clarks famous Times Square celebration. New Years Rockin Eve with Clyde Frog will kick off at 9 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom, with the band that has become a local mainstay playing until just before midnight - giving everyone time to make it outside for the ball drop at the corner of Fourth and William streets - and then starting back up again until 1 a.m. See todays SHOWCASE section for the full story, including more festivities in surrounding areas.
