In your lifetime there are those events that are so burned in your memory that you remember the smallest of details. March 27 is that day for me. Twenty-five years ago today, it was a Monday, I was wearing a blue gingham dress, I had made beef stew for dinner, Alf was on at 8 pm, and it was a warm evening. It is Camilla Baileys birthday. And when I went to go get my husband for dinner, I found him standing in our driveway, covered in blood, and a bulldozer somewhere over the bank. Oh, and I was 8 months pregnant. The night was a blur of ambulance ride, emergency rooms, emergency surgery and the most intense fear I have ever experienced in my life. I could not have gotten through this without my wonderful friends...Dr. Pierce, how relieved I was that he was on duty that night! And Nancy Jeanne Fortin let me stay with her while Bruce was in the hospital. My neighbors the Camires, Races and Phelps who helped take care of the dogs and towed the bulldozer out. And while we are no longer married, I do still love my ex and am ever so grateful that he made it through that awful day. Every year I call him on this anniversary and we share my memory...he doesnt remember anything until he woke from surgery. Happy anniversary Bruce, life is good!
