In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:5-8) Jesus was God Himself, yet Paul reminds us that He assumed a posture of humility while He walked on the earth. Each one of us should aspire to live in the same way each day. We walk out a life of humility by considering others better than ourselves. This does not mean that we feel bad about ourselves, hate ourselves or ignore ourselves. A selfless life is not one where I think that I am less than you; it is one where I simply think of myself less than I think of you. Humility is the key to liberty and joy. Concern for others should be the hallmark of our lives as Christians. Our world often depicts humility as weakness, but God through His Son Jesus shows us that it is actually the key to living a successful, victorious Christian life. ~Christine Caine
