In your status, list 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Dont take forever to think it over. They do not have to be the right books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. Tag 10 friends including me so I can see your list and maybe add some new books to my reading list. Jillian Long tagged me for this last week. I totally forgot to answer. OK! 1. Neuromancer - William Gibson - possibly my favourite book of all time. The language is beautiful, the world is visionary, and the opening line sticks with me forever: The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel. 2. Dream Park - Larry Niven - every gamers wet dream. What LARPers see themselves as doing, but have neither the technology or the physical prowess to properly emulate. 3. A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens - fantastic characters, great language, one of the best villains ever (Madame DeFarge) 4. Long After Midnight (short story collection) - Ray Bradbury - Cheating a bit. His short stories are just too good to pick only one. 5. Golden Fleece - Robert J. Sawyer - I hate Aaron Rossmans eyes. 6. Life in the Iron Mills - Rebecca Harding Davis - Everyone who loves Steampunk should read this book, and understand that most writers who dip into the subgenre are missing the socially conscious part of punk. 7. American Gods - Neil Gaiman - incredibly envisioned, well-written, sad and hopeful and wondrous and tragic all at once. 8. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams - the book that defines sci-fi comedy. 9. The Curse of Chalion - Lois McMaster Bujold - easily one of the best and most well thought-out religions/magic systems Ive read in fantasy. Game of Thrones, but without droning prose and bullshit sideplots that lead nowhere. 10. I, Robot - Isaac Asimov - mystery, comedy, elements of romance, family drama...its everything. So much love.
