Ina Edythe Ellington Collins, 103, of Brandon, Fla. , formerly of Fleming County, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Savannah Court of Brandon. She was the widow of Elmer Collins who died Nov. 30, 1988. She was preceded in death by her only child and beloved daughter, Noreta Collins Wells who died on Feb. 10, 2012. Mrs. Collins was born Dec. 1, 1909, in Rowan County, to Emmitt and Mammie Ellington. She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for 25 years. Mrs. Collins lived a long and full life filled with great passion for her family, her work as a farmer’s wife and her love for the Lord. Her life served as a model to so many of us as she demonstrated great strength and courage, deep abiding love, joy, mischievousness, laughter and fun. She is survived by her son-in-law, George Wells of Brandon, Fla.; her granddaughter, Toni Wells Brown (Jim), of Plano, Texas; her nieces, Linda Knapp Murphy (Bill) of West Palm Beach, Fla., Vickie “Corky” Collins of Maysville, and Janet Marshall (Jessie) of Flemingsburg; her nephews, Frank Bailey of Kansas and Elmer Roy Bailey and Kenny Bailey of Ohio; and many dear friends and extended family. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ted Ellington; and four sisters, Edna Ellington, Leta Ellington Cooper (Gilmore), Opal Ellington Emmons (Hones) and Verna Ellington Largey (Jack). Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Eubanks officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be noon till time of service, Wednsday, at the church. Boone-Nickell Funeral Home is caring for all arrangements for Mrs. Collins.
